The Michigan Department of Education (“MDE”) will conduct public hearings to receive public comment on its proposed changes to the MARSE Rules.  Public hearings on the proposed rules will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Detroit School of Arts and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lansing Community College West Campus.  Written public comment can be submitted: in person at the public hearings; by mail to Public Comment, Office of Special Education, Michigan Department of Education, P.O. Box 30008 Lansing, Michigan 48909; or online at under “OSE Spotlight-Public comment for proposed rule changes.  Unlike previous years, public comment will not be accepted via email or fax.  All written input must be received no later than 5 p.m. on March 13, 2014.  If special accommodations are needed to participate in the public hearing, contact Meredith Hines at 517-373-0924 or via email at by March 7, 2014.
